Hi! I’m Maria.
I'm a creative executive and brand strategist who relates way too much to Strega Nona — I want to make something magical and slightly mysterious that gets the village talking. (I also have an unending adoration of carbohydrates.)
I got my start in beauty editorial, holding positions at PopSugar and Refinery29 before finding my voice in sex and relationships writing. You'll find my byline in The Cut, Cosmopolitan, The Washington Post, Elle, Real Simple, Bustle, TZR, and more — including Playboy, where I served as the brand’s advice columnist, The Playboy Advisor.
I've also authored two books: Simple Acts of Love, a guide to keeping romance alive through everyday gestures, and Daily Skincare Journal, a three-month tracking journal for building a skincare routine that actually works.
But I've always lived between two worlds. As the architect of Betches Media's branded content strategy, I helped grow the company's revenue, expand its client roster, and land its biggest deal to date: a year-long partnership with Dunkin' that involved tentpole integration, LTO support, and more.
I led creative on dozens of custom campaigns and white label partnerships — including an Uber Eats holiday campaign where I wrote scripts for the Jonas Brothers and Megan Thee Stallion. I'm an expert across custom marketing, sponsorships, experiential, and product development. (That iced coffee mitten that went viral for Dunkin' in winter 2026? I pitched it on my edit test three years prior.)
After leaving Betches, I struck out on my own and built MDR Creative to help brands and media companies build content that moves people. My sweet spot is finding the crossover between what a brand wants to say and what their audience wants to hear. I obsessively follow culture so my clients don't have to — fusing audience insights, social trends, and a genuine love of pop culture to craft campaigns that are voice-driven, strategically sharp, and built to stop a scroll.
As if that isn’t enough, I’m also currently developing my first two novels and relaunching my newsletter, Sunday Sauce, which you can subscribe to here.
A Jersey Girl at heart, I just recently moved back to the Garden State with my husband, Ben, our dog, Edie, and a sourdough starter named Armand.
